Fire Safety For Kids
Fire and smoke moves fast. You and your family may have less than two minutes to get out safely once the smoke alarm sounds.

Home Fire Safety Tips for Kids:
- Most smoke alarms make a "Beep, beep, beep!" sound if there is smoke. If you an alarm, get outside fast.
- Have a Home Fire Escape Plan and practice a fire drill twice a year.
- Know two ways out of every room - this could be two doors, or a door and a window if it is close to the ground.
- Do not take anything with you when evacuating. Just get outside fast.
- Have an agreed-upon outside meeting place.
- Firefighters are there to help - do not hide from firefighters.
- If smoke or fire is blocking your way out, use your 2nd way out. If you cannot get out of your room, keep the door closed and wait for the firefighters by the window. Wave something white to get their attention.
- Do not touch matches or lighters. Walk away and tell a grown-up if you find matches or lighters.
- Fire is NEVER a toy.
- Calling 9-1-1 is only in the event of an emergency.
